FAQ

Common questions

Everything you need to know before getting in touch.

What’s included in Ironshore Foundation?

Foundation brings together a Health & Safety Policy, a General Risk Assessment, and a prioritised Action Plan into one fixed-price package — everything most small businesses need to get started.

Do I legally need a Health & Safety Policy?

If you employ 5 or more people, yes — it’s a legal requirement. Below that threshold, a written policy is still good practice and often expected by clients, landlords and insurers.

Do I legally need a COSHH assessment?

If your business uses any substance that could be hazardous to health — including cleaning products, paints, solvents, adhesives, or dusts — then yes. This applies to businesses of all sizes, including sole traders with no employees.

How quickly can documentation be produced?

Most assessments are turned around within 5 working days of receiving your completed intake questionnaire, which itself takes around 10 minutes to fill in.

Do you provide ongoing support?

Yes. Our Ongoing Compliance solution provides a named competent person and regular reviews, so your documentation stays current and you always have someone to call on.

Can you visit our premises?

Most assessments are completed remotely to keep costs down and turnaround fast. Site visits are available for Ongoing Compliance clients, or can be arranged separately — get in touch to discuss.

What’s the difference between a COSHH assessment and a general risk assessment?

A COSHH assessment covers hazardous substances specifically. A general risk assessment covers broader workplace hazards — slips, trips, manual handling and similar. Many businesses need both, which Foundation and Workplace Safety are built to cover.

Why use a consultant rather than doing it myself?

Assessments must be completed by a competent person with sufficient knowledge and experience. A poorly completed assessment offers no real legal protection — a qualified consultant gives you documentation you can rely on.

Ready to build a stronger foundation for your business?

Get in touch and we’ll tell you exactly what you need and what it’ll cost. No obligation.
